Meet Yvonne Metcalfe

If I am elected, I promise to look at everything that comes my way through the lens of my conservative values.  I am a Christian and I believe the bible.  I also believe that we live in a republic under God and under the constitution and we have a separation of powers between the branches of government and between the states and federal government. I believe the 1st amendment and 2nd amendment are under attack by the radical left and if elected, i will stand in support of the constitution as written.   I will stand against those things that are bad for Indianapolis and Indiana, and I will move forward with those things that would benefit our city and state.

Both of my parents were air force veterans and so I was raised to understand the sacrifices made for our freedom, and to believe in the greatness and potential of our country.

I have lived in Indianapolis since 1975.  I met and married my husband, a lifetime Hoosier and warren central graduate, in 1988 and we raised our children on the southside of Indianapolis.  We love this city and have many wonderful memories here.

Issues

  • I am pro-life.
I believe life brings choices. The constitution says we have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  Without life, nothing happens.
  • I believe we should support our police officers.
They put their lives on the line for us every day. They need to know when they arrest someone for a violent crime, they will not see the criminal on the street the next day. They also do not need to be recruited based on DEI, but rather for their skills and commitment necessary for the job.
  • I believe in school choice.
We need quality education for our children. They need to know how to read, write and do arithmetic. They also need to know the history of America, including the Judeo-Christian values that our country was founded upon. They do not need to be focused on gender or sexuality or race.
  • I believe in fiscal responsibility
Government needs to be responsible, and spend taxpayer dollars wisely.
  • I believe in limited government, which means no more lockdowns or mandates.
I also believe the governor’s emergency powers should be limited to less than a month. I believe some of our government agencies have been out of control and they need to remember that they exist to serve the people, not to lord over them. I believe small businesses thrive with less interference from the government.
